His Excellency President Adama Barrow today inaugurated the Madina Lamin Kanteh Multipurpose USET Campus in Central River Region North, expanding access to quality and relevant Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities in the region.
Constructed by the MRC Holland Foundation, the facility will operate under the University of Skills and Entrepreneurship Training (USET) as a multipurpose TVET centre. It will offer programmes in General Agriculture, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Solar Photovoltaic, Construction, Carpentry and Joinery, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, expressed appreciation to the MRC Holland Foundation, Brighter Futures, the Governor of the Central River Region, the Chief and Alkalo of Madina Lamin Kanteh, as well as the youth and surrounding communities, for their support during the land identification and construction of the facility.
The Minister noted that the establishment of the campus aligns with MoHERST’s strategic drive to decentralise access to quality and relevant TVET education across The Gambia, bringing skills development opportunities closer to communities.
The facility is expected to provide young people and other learners in the region with practical and market-relevant skills to support employment, entrepreneurship and local economic development.
