
The University of The Gambia (UTG) invites visionary and distinguished candidates to apply for the position of Vice-Chancellor, effective 1 January 2027.
About UTG:
• Established in 1999, UTG is the country’s premier public university with ~8,300 students and 292 academic staff.
• Comprises 10 Schools & Faculties across three campuses: Kanifing, Faraba, and Farafenni.
• Committed to delivering globally competitive education, research, and innovation.
The Role:
• Academic Head & CEO of UTG, reporting to the Governing Council.
• Provide transformational leadership, drive strategic planning, and enhance UTG’s global reputation.
• Oversee academic, administrative, and operational functions, including fundraising, partnerships, and resource management.
Who We’re Looking For:
• PhD holder with ≥15 years full-time university experience and ≥10 years at professorial rank.
• Proven track record in leadership, research, institutional development, and international collaboration.
• Strong strategic vision, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Maximum age: 65 years at assumption of duty.
Term & Benefits:
• Full-time appointment: 5 years, renewable for up to 5 more years.
